HAIKOU /China/, February 3. /TASS/. A newly established Hainan Tropical Flower Trading (Auction) Market will carry out international shipments of water lilies from Sri Lanka. This was reported by the Hainan Daily newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the new Hainan flower market has established a strategic cooperation relationship with Sri Lanka Baishengwei for this purpose.
In addition to lilies, which is a state flower in Sri Lanka, the auction site plans to organize the purchase of other exotic flowers grown by this company. For example, the dendrobium, an orchid that is not only used as an indoor plant, but also for medicinal purposes.
"The formation of the Hainan Free Trade Port has always been of great interest to me," said Wang Pu, head of Sri Lanka Baishengwei. "We plan to gain a foothold in the local market, deepen connections with it, and promote the development of Hainan's tropical flower industry."
According to the entrepreneur, his company grows 25 kinds of water lilies in different colors. In view of the optimistic expectations regarding business development in Hainan, the company has decided to actively cooperate with the southernmost Chinese province.
The Hainan Tropical Flower Trading (Auction) Market in Haikou City officially began operating on January 16. In addition to processing trade transactions with ornamental plants, it is also involved in tourism.
