Uralchem to organize humanitarian fertilizer supplies to Kenya

The company will deliver to the African country a batch 30,000 metric tons of fertilizers frozen in Latvian ports

MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS/. Uralchem will arrange the delivery of a humanitarian batch of 30,000 metric tons of fertilizers blocked at present in Latvian ports to Kenya, the Russian fertilizer producer told TASS.

"According to the statement of the Latvian Foreign Ministry, the national government recognized and supported agreements of the Group with the UN on the transfer of these fertilizers to countries of Africa and Latin America. The process is being organized at present for the charity supply of 30,000 metric tons of fertilizers frozen in Latvian ports to Kenya," Uralchem said.

The company will also pay all cargo storage, freight and transshipment costs. "The payment will be made in full after all the documents required to this end are finally agreed by the parties involved, including by Latvian government agencies," the company noted.

The Group intends to provide about 300,000 metric tons of fertilizers as humanitarian aid to developing economies. In particular, the batch of fertilizers for Malawi was unloaded.
