CIS invites SCO, BRICS representatives to its economic forum in Moscow

Currently, the SCO includes Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

MINSK, January 31. /TASS/. The leadership of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has invited representatives of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and BRICS member states to participate in the CIS’ economic forum that will be held in Moscow in March, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev told reporters on Tuesday.

"The meeting of the Economic council will be held in Moscow on March 17 concurrently with the traditional CIS economic forum. We hope that representatives of all countries of the Commonwealth will participate, and we also invited representatives of the SCO, BRICS nations and, of course, our EAEU partners [will be present]," he said.

Currently, the SCO includes Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Observer states are Afghanistan, Mongolia and Belarus, while Iran is undergoing the procedures of entering the organization. At the organization’s summit in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand in September 2022 the mechanism of Belarus’ entrance was launched. Azerbaijan, Armenia, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Sri Lanka are partner states.
