Norilsk Nickel can postpone major investment projects for two years — top manager
The TCP-3 is expected to be put on stream in late 2024 or early 2025
MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest producer of high-grade nickel and palladium, can postpone the timeframe for implementation of large-scale projects, including construction of a new Norilsk Concentration Plant (NCP-2) and launch of the Talnakh Concentration Plant (TCP-3) due to complications with equipment supplies, Senior Vice President Sergey Stepanov told TASS.
"The TCP-3 project has been postponed a bit, but not critically. We expect to put the TCP-3 on stream in late 2024 or early 2025. We will need extra processing capacities after the launch and subsequent ramping up of the Medvezhiy Ruchei [Mine] in 2024-2025." Stepanov said. Projects anticipated to be launched after 2024 would have to be postponed because the company would need time for redesign, the top manager said.
"A significant portion of large-scale projects, such as the NCP-2 or the third smelting complex at the Nadezhdinsky smelter will be postponed for a couple of years definitely, because they require a replacement of equipment suppliers," Stepanov noted.
