Russian banks’ liquidity surplus stands at $40.8 bln in 2022 — regulator
The Central Banks expects the structural liquidity surplus forecast as of 2023 year-end will be updated subject to the revised macroeconomic outlook
MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. The liquidity surplus of Russian banks totaled 2.8 trillion rubles ($40.8 bln) as of the end of 2022, the Central Bank of Russia reports on Friday.
"The structural liquidity surplus in average over the December averaging period totaled 2.3 trillion rubles ($33.5 bln) (during the November averaging period: 1.2 trillion rubles ($17.5 bln). The surplus gained 1.6 trillion rubles ($23.3 bln) and amounted to 2.8 trillion rubles as of the end of 2022, which is line with the forecast of the Bank of Russia (2.6-3.2 trillion rubles) ($37.9-46.6 bln)," the regulator says.
The dynamics of individual components in this outlook had some specific features, the Bank of Russia said. Budgetary transactions entailed greater inflow of money to banks than expected. A sizable portion of expenses was financed from the National Wealth Fund.
