Krasnoyarsk Region allocates $40 million to support North's indigenous peoples
This money will be used to support traditional occupations and crafts, publication of literature in national languages, as well as organization of exhibitions
KRASNOYARSK, November 30. /TASS/. The Krasnoyarsk Region allocated 2.5 billion rubles ($40 million) for three coming years to support the North's indigenous peoples, head of the regional agency for development of the Northern territories and support of the indigenous peoples, Anton Narchuganov said.
"To 2025, the Krasnoyarsk Region will invest in support of the North's low-numbered indigenous peoples 2.5 billion rubles," he said. "This money will be used to support traditional occupations and crafts, publication of literature in national languages, as well as organization of exhibitions, and so forth."
According to the agency, in 2022, the Krasnoyarsk Region has spent about 750 million rubles ($12.2 million) to support the North's low-numbered indigenous peoples. In the region live about 16,000 people of eight ethnic groups - the Nganasans, Ents, Nenets, Evenks, Dolgans, Keto, Chulyms, Selkups. They live mostly on the Taymyr Peninsula.
