Gas union of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan will allow expanding export routes — Deputy PM

Alexander Novak added that China could become one of such export destinations

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed plans of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to create a gas union.

"Yes, such areas of cooperation are being considered since Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have had a single gas transportation system since the USSR," he said talking to reporters.

"In fact, we have great opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation, in particular, on gas supplies and processing and on other export routes," he said.

Novak added that China could become one of such export destinations.

On November 28, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the creation of a "trilateral gas union" with Uzbekistan during a meeting in the Kremlin, Ruslan Zheldibay, the press secretary of the Kazakh leader, said.

On the same day, at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Kazakh President said that Putin had proposed creating a trilateral gas union and was going to call the President of Uzbekistan about this.
