MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Investments in the development of the PD-35 high-thrust engine were reduced in view of Western sanctions but Rostec is still going to move forward with the project, CEO of the Russian state-run corporation Sergey Chemezov told TASS in an interview before the 15th anniversary of the company’s establishment.

Rostec revised certain investment programs because of sanctions, the top manager noted. In particular, a portion of the PD-35 engine budget program was reallocated to other priority tasks, including the development of the PD-14 and PD-8 engines.

"We are not giving up on this project. Key program goals will be achieved by the agreed deadline. Russia needs this engine to create super-heavy transport and wide-body civilian jets and plants for the oil and gas industry," Chemezov said.

The PD-35 (a prospective engine with 35 metric tons of thrust) is a project of the Russian ultra-high thrust turbofan engine (with a takeoff thrust of 33 to 40 metric tons) for long-range airliners and military transport aircraft.
