Moldova says pumping Russian gas to Ukrainian UGS facilities as reserve
Andrey Spinu did not reveal how much gas had been pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities
CHISINAU, November 23. /TASS/. Moldova has confirmed that part of gas purchased from Russia remains in Ukraine, being pumped to underground gas storage (UGS) facilities as a reserve, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrey Spinu reported via his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
"The gas volumes remaining in Ukraine, as Gazprom calls them, are our savings and reserves that are being pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities," he wrote.
Spinu did not reveal how much gas had been pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities, but noted that Moldova had accumulated reserves in the amount of 200 mln cubic meters of gas in gas transport systems of neighboring countries.
Gazprom said on Tuesday that it had observed that Russian gas supplies intended for delivery to Moldovan consumers actually settled in Ukraine. If the transit imbalance via Ukraine remains for Moldovan consumers, Gazprom will start reducing gas supplies for transit on November 28 in the volume of daily short supply, the gas producer added.
