Russia’s UN envoy says West seeks to take credit for some Russian fertilizer exports

The West, in particular the EU, not only did not help with that, but also opposed it in every possible way and "now hypocritically tries to present itself as the savior of developing countries, Vasily Nebenzya said

UNITED NATIONS, November 17. /TASS/. Russia is extremely surprised that the West is trying to take credit for the export of Russian fertilizers to developing countries, Russia’s UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya said on Wednesday.

"The attempts by our Western colleagues to take credit for the export of Russian fertilizers to developing countries through the UN World Food Program cause extreme surprise," he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council. "French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the channel for their shipment was allegedly created thanks to the efforts of France and the WFP, using the pronoun ‘we’. We have heard the same statements from Western delegations today. I would like to know who ‘we’ are. Let me remind you that we are talking about the fertilizers that Western countries have held on their territory and that Russia proposed to give to developing countries."

According to the diplomat, The West, in particular the EU, not only did not help with that, but also opposed it in every possible way and "now hypocritically tries to present itself as the savior of developing countries."

"Russian fertilizers will be sent to Africa after previously being frozen in European ports due to the EU sanctions policy," Nebenzya said. "Russia offered to donate them to countries in need, and this is what is now happening with the mediation of the WFP, and we are paying it for these services.".
