Russia’s Federal Customs Service sees resurgence in cross-border e-commerce
Ruslan Davydov also recalled that in the spring of this year, the threshold for the duty-free import of Internet parcels into the Eurasian Economic Union was raised to 1,000 euros
MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. The Federal Customs Service of Russia has noted a gradual resurgence in volumes of cross-border Internet commerce. In September, more than 15 million parcels of goods for personal use were imported into the country, Ruslan Davydov, the first deputy head of the Federal Customs Service, said at a press conference.
"If we saw a sharp decline in March-April, now we are seeing a resurgence in internet commerce deliveries. In particular, more than 15 million parcels of goods for personal use were imported in September," Davydov said.
He also recalled that in the spring of this year, the threshold for the duty-free import of Internet parcels into the Eurasian Economic Union was raised to 1,000 euros.
"Another measure is raising the threshold for duty-free imports of goods for personal use. In recent years we have been systematically lowering this threshold in order, first and foremost, to create favorable conditions for the operation of our business, our industrial enterprises. We know that the volumes were huge, imports via online commerce used to reach 350 million or more parcels per year," Davydov said.
