VOSTOCHNY COSMODROME (the Amur Region), October 24. /TASS/. Russian radar satellites, which will provide information on the ice situation along the Northern Sea Route, will appear in 2023, Roscosmos' Director General Yury Borisov told reporters.

"For Roscosmos, various space services make a very wide spectrum: the high-precision navigation, the ice situation data, weather conditions, stable communication, various communication types, telephone communication, data transmission. <...> Our plans include the formation of satellites for various purposes <...>, and presently there are groups that <...> do not fully provide these services throughout the Northern Sea Route. For example, nowadays we do not have radar satellites that provide information on the ice situation, - they will appear only in April 2023," he said.

According to him, for Roscosmos services for the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic zone are of high priority. "We have put together a schedule to design and launch satellite groups, have outlined responsibilities, the financing is available fully, the work has been organized, and now we just monitor the work to provide in time all the services to our clients," he added.
