MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia does not consider feasible to accumulate gold in gold and currency reserves at the moment, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Aleksey Zabotkin said on Tuesday.

"In terms of gold accumulation in gold and currency reserves, this is not advisable at the moment because this will create an extra impetus for money quantity growth," Zabotkin said.

The target support of economic sectors is not in the mandate of the Bank of Russia, the official said, answering a question about the opportunity of buying gold to reserves in order to support gold miners.

"The Ministry of Finance has the right to decide on using its resources for gold purchases in the volume it views as reasonable. The government can also consider support of the sector within the framework of industrial policy implementation but the target support of economic sectors is not part of the Central Bank’s mandate," Zabotkin added.
