Serdar Berdimuhamedov believes that this direction can be considered as a zone of priority economic partnership

ASHGABAT, October 15. /TASS/. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to consider the prospects of using the port infrastructure of the Caspian Sea in the interests of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Saturday, following his speech at the session of the CIS Heads of the State Council.

According to the newspaper, Turkmenistan sees great opportunities for cooperation in the Caspian Region: the formation of a modern system of integrated logistics with the participation of countries that are not directly connected to the World Ocean. Most CIS countries fall into this category, the Turkmen President stressed, proposing to consider in this regard the prospects of using the Caspian Sea port infrastructure, including the capacities of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi, as well as the growing merchant fleet of Turkmenistan, in the interests of the CIS.

Berdimuhamedov also said that the Caspian Sea area should occupy a proper place in the future plans of the CIS and be considered a zone of priority economic partnership.
