Second part of grain deal not performed at all — Kremlin
The Russian President discussed the topic of grain and fertilizers with leaders of Qatar and Palestine in particular
ASTANA, October 13. /TASS/. The second part of the grain deal is not being performed at all, aide to the Russian President Yury Ushakov told reporters on Thursday.
On July 22, a package of documents on supplies of food and fertilizers to the international market was signed in Istanbul. One of them approved the mechanism for grain export from Black Sea ports under control of Ukraine. Another portion of arrangements pertains to the access of Russian food to international markets.
"I do not know because the second portion of this deal is absolutely not being performed so far," Ushakov said, responding to a question about Russia’s readiness to proceed with the grain deal in its current form.
The Russian President discussed the topic of grain and fertilizers with leaders of Qatar and Palestine in particular, the aide noted. "By the way, this topic was also raised during other talks. We spoke to others also on grain and fertilizers. In particular, we talked about that with Qatar and with Palestine," Ushakov said.
The poorest countries are still unable to take fertilizers stuck in European ports, the official noted.
"We remind on and on about our proposal comprising 300,000 metric tons of fertilizers located in various European ports. Nobody can pick them up so far, although we offer free distribution of these fertilizers among the poorest countries," Ushakov added.
