Europeans have to understand damage to energy security from Nord Stream incident — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov claims that it is still unclear whether or not the world's infrastructure will be able to make up for the decreasing volumes of Russian gas

ASTANA, October 13. /TASS/. The incident at the Nord Stream pipeline has damaged energy security, Europe will have to realize this, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the sidelines of the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana on Thursday.

"The decommissioning of the Nord Stream structure, with the exception of one remaining Nord Stream 2 line, certainly caused damage to the overall potential for energy security. And Europeans have yet to understand this," he said.

He claims that it is still unclear whether or not the world's infrastructure will be able to make up for the decreasing volumes of Russian gas, and if so, at what price, and whether or not European economy's competitiveness can be maintained.
