Russia to continue transition to national currencies for energy supplies — Putin
It was mentioned that Russia would maintain its role of the one of the largest participants in the global energy market
MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russia will continue to switch to settlements in national currencies for energy supplies, as has already happened with China and a number of European countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Russian Energy Week forum.
"We will continue the transition to payments in national currencies when delivering Russian energy. As far as examples I have already mentioned: Gazprom and our Chinese partners have switched to the ruble and yuan in equal shares when delivering gas. Some European partners have also switched to paying for our gas in the Russian national currency - in rubles," he said.
Putin stressed that Russia has been and will be one of the largest participants in the global energy market, but the main task for the country is to strengthen the national economy.
