Russia’s gas export revenues down in September — IEA
As Fatih Birol said, Russia is losing its grip on the EU market and has limited scope to export its gas elsewhere
MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Russia’s revenues from pipeline gas exports to the EU declined in September 2022 in annual terms, head of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol tweeted on Tuesday.
"Despite record high natural gas prices, Russia’s revenues from gas exports to the EU via pipeline fell in September compared with the same month in 2021 due to the steep drop in gas flows," Birol said.
"Russia is losing its grip on the EU market and has limited scope to export its gas elsewhere," the official said. According to data cited by the IEA chief, Russian revenues from gas export via pipelines dropped by about $1 bln in September 2022, as compared to September 2021.
Gazprom’s gas exports contracted by 40.4% (by 58.9 bln cubic meters) to 86.9 bln cubic meters in annual terms in January - September 2022. The gas holding is supplying gas according to confirmed nominations.
