Russian economy proves capable of adjusting to unprecedented sanctions, says PM

It is stated that consumer demand is gradually recovering, backed by a stable situation on the labor market

SKOLKOVO, October 6. /TASS/. Russia’s economy has demonstrated its ability to adjust to external challenges despite the unprecedented pressure of western nations, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a plenary meeting of the second Caspian Economic Forum on Thursday.

"The anti-Russia sanctions are unprecedented," he said, adding that the government had assumed measures to neutralize their influence. "And the Russian economy is proving it is capable of adjusting to external challenges," Mishustin noted.

Consumer demand is gradually recovering, backed by a stable situation on the labor market, he said. Investment activity was high in the first half of this year, according to Russian PM. "Inflation has slowed down from the peak of 17.8% in annual terms in April to 13.5% last week," he said.
