SANYA, September 16. /TASS/. Yazhou Agricultural Park has become the only science and technology park in Hainan to be among China's national pilot test zones for intellectual property rights protection. This was reported by the Sanya Daily newspaper.

Some 48 cities and counties as well as 22 science and technology parks in China were awarded the title in the latest list.

The program was presented by China National Intellectual Property Administration in December last year. It involves the establishment of special pilot zones for intellectual property protection in the country's cities, counties, and science and technology parks.

In total, there are 151 cities, counties or districts in China, as well as 64 science and technology parks, which have been awarded the title of such a national-level pilot zone. Apart from the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, it also includes the Sanya district in a city of the same name in Hainan, as well as the Longhua Municipal District in Haikou, the administrative center of the island.

In June this year, Hainan's first one-stop service system for the public and businesses in intellectual property rights enforcement was launched in Yazhou Agricultural Park. It provides services during all stages: creating, formalizing, protecting and using intellectual property rights. As the Yazhou administration points out, these issues are especially relevant to scientists and researchers, as well as local startups and other companies that are residents of the science city.

The Yazhou Agricultural Science and Technology Cluster was established in 2019. Its total area is about 70 square kilometers. The agricultural park includes the Nanfan Scientific and Research Breeding Base. So far, scientists have been able to breed more than 20 thousand new crop varieties there, which is about 70% of China's national figure.
