Russia will train over 1,700 Egyptian specialists for El Dabaa NPP for $83 mln

MOSCOW, August 25. /TASS/. Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom will training 1,712 specialists for the El Dabaa nuclear power plant, which is under construction in Egypt. The cost of training will be more than 5 bln rubles ($83 mln). This is according to the documents posted on the public procurement website.
As stated in the terms of reference, the Technical Academy of Rosatom is to train specialists for all positions for the operation and maintenance of every unit of the NPP by the time this unit is launched. According to the terms of reference, it is planned to train 1,712 people.
The list of academic disciplines for the training of personnel of the El-Dabaa NPP includes more than a hundred items: from Russian language courses, administrative issues of NPP operation and personnel management to reactor physics and requirements for radioactive waste management. Also, the special skills of future Egyptian nuclear scientists will be trained on simulators at the reference nuclear power plant in Russia, and then in Egypt - on simulators at the El-Dabaa NPP.
The construction of the El Dabaa NPP began on July 20, 2022. It will be located on the Mediterranean coast, about 300 km northwestward of Cairo. The plant will consist of four power units with a capacity of 1,200 MW each. Russia and Egypt signed the intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the NPP in Cairo in November 2015. Egypt expects that the NPP will operate at full capacity by 2030.
