The province also plans to continue tax policies regarding the purchase of alternative energy vehicles

HAIKOU /China/, August 24. /TASS/. Authorities in the southern Chinese province of Hainan intend to completely ban the sale of cars with gasoline and diesel engines by 2030. This is stated in the document adopted by the provincial government, which concerns the program to reduce harmful emissions, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.

According to the plan, the goal is to convert all Hainan government and commercial services to green energy vehicles by 2025, and to completely ban the sale of gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles by 2030. The plan also states that Hainan will continue to implement preferential tax policies for the purchase of alternative energy vehicles, which include not only electric cars, but also cars with hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid engines in China.

Hainan is the first province in China to announce plans to completely stop the sale of cars with gasoline and diesel engines on the island by 2030 in order to combat pollution and protect the local environment. To this end, the government is encouraging people to buy alternative energy cars and developing the necessary infrastructure for them. The province has a policy of subsidizing the purchase of such vehicles by individuals.

The adopted plan is part of China's efforts to achieve the goal of emissions reduction and carbon neutrality. The PRC has announced that it will reach peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
