Hainan will establish 24-hour air cargo service system by end of 2025

The provincial government intends to promote the development of a modern logistics system

HAIKOU /China/, June 24. /TASS/. The Development and Reform Commission of the southern Chinese province of Hainan has presented an implementation plan for the construction of Hainan's modern circulation system in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Hainan intends to promote the development of a modern logistics system, accelerate the opening of international routes and build a globally accessible 24-hour air cargo service, according to the document published on the department's official website.

The document notes that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Hainan also plans to establish four- and eight-hour air cargo service cycles. No further details are given at this time.

The development of the logistics system also involves the construction of international mail control centers, cross-border e-commerce and express delivery centers at Haikou, Sanya, Boao and Dongfang airports. In addition, it envisages improving logistics services, building a network of logistics hubs, accelerating the development of various forms of rail express transport, promoting the innovative development of the logistics sector and related industries, strengthening international aviation logistics capacity, improving international shipping services, and improving the quality of services in port logistics.

The plan also focuses on the development of Hainan's transport infrastructure - by the end of 2025, the authorities intend to complete the construction of some highways, improve urban-rural transport connectivity, promote transport accessibility in the region, develop multimodal transportation, and green transformation of the transport industry.

In addition, by the end of 2025, Hainan intends to significantly improve modern financial services and promote commerce, including duty-free trade.

The document indicates that by the end of 2025 the income of the logistics area of the southern Chinese province will reach 130 billion yuan (about $ 19.5 billion). By 2035 the figure will reach 320 billion yuan (about $ 47.9 billion). In the same year, it is planned to complete the construction of the province's modern circulatory system as a whole.
