ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Brazil opposes anti-Russian sanctions, because they disrupt fruitful economic ties, Ambassador of Brazil to the Russian Federation Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares said during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) Thursday.
"Brazil’s position is very clear: we are totally against any sanctions […] against Russia," envoy said.
According to the diplomat, Brazil intends to strengthen its cooperation with Russia, despite the complications present since February 22. Russia is the key supplier of fertilizer to Brazil, amounting to 23% of all supplies, he said.
The ambassador expressed his certainty that, despite certain complications with organization of some shipments, in particular - the required amount of fertilizers, Russia and Brazil will be able to find a way out of the current situation via joint efforts.
