HAIKOU /China/, May 27. /TASS/. Hainan province has recently achieved a 100% recycling of construction waste, the Hainan Daily newspaper reported with reference to an official source.

According to the newspaper, a plant of about 9 hectares has been built in Changjiang Li Autonomous County in the west of the island, which is capable of reusing construction debris. On average, their recycling rate in the province is said to be as high as 45%.

According to local authorities, Hainan is stepping up recycling efforts, forming a rapid recycling system in accordance with the new management orders. The provincial administration is preparing new rules for recycling construction waste for a number of localities, where the problem is particularly acute.

These changes primarily affect Haikou, the administrative center of Hainan, and the resort city of Sanya. The innovation has affected the county of Chengmai and the city of Uzhishan, which is located in a mountainous area far from the seacoast. The Department of Construction and Housing Affairs of Hainan, according to the newspaper, intends to amend all the shortcomings of the existing mechanisms for the delivery and processing of waste within three years.

According to media reports, the provincial administration is planning to create additional channels for the reuse of already recycled construction waste. The end result is expected to be a more highly efficient system for the use of renewable resources, reducing costs and making Hainan's construction industry more environmentally friendly.
