MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Volkswagen is currently unable to forecast the time of production restart in Russia and employees remain in downtime, the company’s press service said.

"Volkswagen Group Rus has suspended production in Russia until further notice. The company is keeping a close eye on developments. Taking into account the high level of uncertainty of the overall situation, we cannot forecast the potential timeframe of production restart in Russia. Employees of Volkswagen Group Rus remain in the downtime mode; the company continues paying salaries in accordance with Russian laws," the company said.

Volkswagen cannot plan the production output for 2022 in view of high complexity of the production planning process and unpredictability of the situation in general, it added.

It was reported in March that Volkswagen Group announced suspension of its production facilities in Russia and termination of car export to Russia because of the situation in Ukraine.
