Libya eyes buying grain and flour from Russia — ambassador

According to Muhammad al-Maghrabi, a pilot batch of flour will be shipped to Libya in May

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Libya is interested in buying agricultural products from Russia, the first pilot batch of flour in the amount of 100,000 tonnes will be shipped to Libya after May 11, Libyan Ambassador to Moscow Muhammad al-Maghrabi told TASS during a working trip to Yekaterinburg,

"Recently, we have been actively negotiating on grain and flour, I am involved in these talks. A pilot batch of flour will be shipped to Libya after May 11. Russian companies are different, but those we are in talks now - this implies 100,000 tonnes. This is considered a large batch and causes logistical difficulties, since after the sanctions it became difficult to deliver the goods," he said.

The ambassador noted that Libya had applied for about 350,000 tonnes. After a trial batch, the Libyan authorities intend to organize a meeting in the country for business representatives to discuss options for the range of supplies.
