Borjomi company in Georgia temporarily suspends operation due to financial difficulties
The company pointed to the difficult situation related to sales of its products on the main markets and restricted access to bank accounts
TBILISI, April 29. /TASS/. The company producing fresh and mineral water under the Borjomi brand will temporarily suspend operation in Georgia due to financial difficulties related to the special military operation in Ukraine, the press service of IDS Borjomi Georgia said in a statement on Friday.
"After the beginning of military actions in Ukraine IDS Borjomi Georgia company found itself in a difficult position. The difficult situation related to sales of the company’s products on the main markets was coupled with restricted access to bank accounts, which blocked for the company currency profit and the possibility to pay to creditors. <...> Considering this the company is forced to temporarily suspend production at both Borjomi plants starting April 29," the statement said.
The company hopes the situation will improve in the near future and the facilities will continue operating as usual.
According to Forbes Georiga, IDS Borjomi Georgia is part of IDS Borjomi International, with Alfa Group founded by Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman who was sanctioned by western countries over the situation in Ukraine, holding 60% of its shares. Another 40% in IDS Borjomi belong to minority shareholders.
