Putin orders to prepare updated strategy of Russia’s actions in WTO by June 1
The Western sanctions contradict principles of the World Trade Organization, the Russian President recalled
MOSCOW, April 20. /TASS/. Illegal sanctions against Russian metals companies run counter to principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Russia will therefore revise the strategy of its actions there, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at the meeting on the situation in the metals sector.
The head of state recapitulated a number of restrictive measures of the West against Russian metals companies, noting that they "contradict principles of the World Trade Organization, with the commitment to them reiterated by European colleagues."
"I ask the government in this regard to perform a comprehensive assessment of lawfulness of decisions of Western counterparties and prepare the updated strategy of our actions in the World Trade Organization. I request to complete this work by June 1 of this year," the President said.
