Russian container fleet cannot fully substitute global carriers in country — top manager
The whole market must substitute about 300,000 TEU, President of the Russian container operator TransContainer Alexander Isurin told
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. It will not be possible to completely substitute containers of international lines in Russia, President of the Russian container operator TransContainer Alexander Isurin told reporters on Wednesday.
"The whole market, according to our estimate, must substitute about 300,000 TEU. These were containers present on the Russian market and supporting container turnover. The Russian transport market, most probably, will not be able to completely replenish and substitute the largest global container lines that decided not to work here at once," Isurin said.
Containers not merely supported country’s export and import but also take part in domestic transportation, the top manager said. The container shortage can occur. One of the ways to solve it is to bring Chinese regional companies considering the Russian market entry to the Far East, Isurin added.
TransContainer gives no forecast of the container market volume in 2022 due to high uncertainty.
