MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Airlines will receive the first six production MC-21 aircraft with the Russian PD-14 engine in 2024, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov said on Wednesday

"The first six production MC-21s with the domestically-made PD-14 engine will be delivered to customers in 2024," he said speaking at the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament.

Chemezov recalled that the first flight of the MC-21 took place at the end of last year. The overall percentage of composite in the MC-21 design is 40%, he said.

For the MC-21 and SSJ, the United Engine Corporation is developing new power units, while, according to Chemezov, the PD-14 engine, designed for the MC-21, will also be used for a new family of gas turbine plants.

Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yury Slyusar said that UAC plans to produce 36 MC-21 jets by 2025 and after it - to boost production rates to 72 jets per year.

The serial production of Tu-214 and import-substituted MC-21 and SSJ 100 jets became relevant amid sanctions imposed by the US and the EU, which particularly include the full refusal to supply jets and components of Airbus and Boeing to Russia. Moreover, the UAC’s foreign partners unilaterally stopped delivering components for Russia’s SSJ 100 and MC-21 aircraft.
