Alrosa applies to UK’s OFSI for special license allowing making coupon payment
Alrosa is to make the next coupon payment on April 9, 2022, under the $500 mln 4.65% notes due 2024
MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Alrosa has applied to the UK’s Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) to issue a special license allowing making the coupon payment under Eurobond 2024, Russia’s diamond producer said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The company applied to OFSI to issue a special license allowing the issuer or the guarantor to make the coupon payment under the notes. This application requests that OFSI grants specific license authorizing the UK financial institutions and other parties, including the principal paying agent, to process the normal onward payment towards the noteholders," the statement said.
On March 24, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on the issuer, Alrosa Finance S.A., and the guarantor, which is Alrosa itself. "This means that currently due implementation of the obligations under the notes is technically impossible," the company added.
Alrosa is to make the next coupon payment on April 9, 2022, under the $500 mln 4.65% notes due 2024.
"We hereby confirm that the issuer and the guarantor are committed to fulfill the obligations under the notes in full and in due time. The company is totally financially sustainable and is in possession of all financial resources necessary to fulfill the next coupon payment," Alrosa noted.
