Route via Lithuania becomes base one for truck deliveries from EU to Russia — Ministry

Over 1,800 heavy haulers are currently standing at four Lithuanian checkpoints to enter Belarus

VILNIUS, April 4. /TASS/. Many kilometers’ queues of heavy haulers on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border are caused by interruptions with entering Belarus via Poland and the route through Lithuania bas become the priority one for EU companies delivering goods to Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan, the checkpoints department under the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport said on Monday.

"The Lithuanian destination has currently become the main one for EU companies delivering goods to Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Huge queues occur at our checkpoints as a result," the department said.

One of Polish border checkpoints is temporary closed and protest actions obstruct traffic at other ones, according to the department.

Over 1,800 heavy haulers are currently standing at four Lithuanian checkpoints to enter Belarus. Their waiting time to cross the border ranges from 90 to 120 hours," the department said.
