Adria pipeline operator to suspend Serbian NIS oil pumping due to sanctions
If no changes take place in respect of sanctions against Russia and tit-for-tat restrictive Russian measures, implementation of the agreement will not be possible from May 15, JANAF said
ZAGREB, March 29. /TASS/. JANAF, the Croatia-based operator of the Adria Oil Pipeline, intends to halt pumping of crude oil of Serbia’s NIS, where Russian Gazprom Neft holds 56.15%, in connection with anti-Russian sanctions, the operator said on Tuesday.
"The Adria Oil Pipeline does not operate directly on the Russian market but the crude oil transportation agreement made by JANAF with NIS for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022 falls under the EU Council resolution of March 15, 2022 on amendments to the EU regulation on respective measures against Russia’s actions on destabilization of the situation in Ukraine," the pipeline operator said.
If no changes take place in respect of sanctions against Russia and tit-for-tat restrictive Russian measures, implementation of the agreement will not be possible from May 15, JANAF said. "Considering that it is impossible at present to predict the potential duration and future intensity of restrictive measures, it does not appear possible to assess all the consequences of restrictions, including from the standpoint of a threat to the financial standing of JANAF," the company added.
