Germany’s E.ON sees risk for assessing its share in Nord Stream gas pipeline

Earlier, E.ON opposed Poland’s demand to close the Nord Stream gas pipeline as a possible sanction against Russia due to its actions in Ukraine

MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. Germany’s largest energy concern E.ON sees risk for assessing its share in the Nord Stream gas pipeline due to high market uncertainty amid the conflict in Ukraine, the company said in its annual report released on Wednesday.

"E.ON sees risks mainly for the commodity markets and related credit and liquidity risks, as well as measurement risks for financial assets, including the investment in Nord Stream AG held in the pension plan assets," the company said.

Earlier, E.ON opposed Poland’s demand to close the Nord Stream gas pipeline as a possible sanction against Russia due to its actions in Ukraine.

Nord Stream, the export gas pipeline from Russia to Europe with the total capacity of 55 bln cubic meters of gas, runs through the Baltic Sea from Portovaya Bay, near Vyborg on the Russian coast, to Lubmin, Germany. Nord Stream AG, the operator of the pipeline, is an international joint venture of Gazprom (owns 51% through a subsidiary), Germany’s Wintershall Dea (15.5%), Germany’s E.ON (15.5%), N. V. Nederlandse Gasunie (9%), and France’s Engie (9%).

Last year, gas supplies via the pipeline were at the record level of 2020 of 59.2 bln cubic meters.
