Hainan's Jiangdong Development Zone boosts infrastructure construction in 2022
Between January and November 2021, Jiangdong began constructing 66 new facilities and completed another 36
HAIKOU /China/, Jan. 25. /TASS/. The Jiangdong New Area Development Zone in the Chinese city of Haikou in northern Hainan province is planning to implement a large-scale infrastructure construction program this year, Hainan International Communication Network reported with reference to official data.
According to the network, between January and November last year, Jiangdong began constructing 66 new facilities and completed another 36. Among the completed projects is an aircraft maintenance base. The main supporting structures of the financial and energy centers, the Huandao Experimental School, and the Datang headquarters complex have been completed.
The local authorities noted that the work focus is on infrastructure quality and efficient planning of the development. In addition, the management of the Jiangdong New Area is committed to ensuring a high level of environmental awareness and to shaping the distinctively natural architectural look of Haikou's central business district. The power supply in this part of the city will be based mainly on energy-saving technologies.
The new office buildings in the development zone differ greatly in size. For example, the building owned by the State Development and Investment Corporation, for which 630 million yuan (about $100 million) has been allocated, will be 30 meters, and the Haikou Financial Center (a complex of six buildings with an area of 20 thousand square meters) will have from four to 12 floors (maximum 60 m). Among the taller facilities to be commissioned in the near future is a business center which will house energy companies (80 m).
In June 2018, authorities announced the creation of an innovation zone called the Jiangdong New Area near Meilan International Airport in Haikou, the administrative center of Hainan. This special industrial complex, with an area of over 298 square kilometers, plays an important role in the development of the free trade port. It is home to the aviation industrial park, which is among the strategically important facilities needed to successfully form an advanced international-level transportation and logistics hub on the island.
