Yamal’s gas production capacity 25% above planned — governor

TYUMEN, September 16. /TASS/. The amount of gas, which may be produced in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, is 800 bcm a year, Yamal’s Governor Dmitry Artyukhov said on the sidelines of the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum. Thus, the region’s gas production capacity for 2021 is 25% higher than planned.
In early 2021, the planned gas production on Yamal by the yearend was expected at almost 640 bcm. In 2020, the region produced was slightly more than 526 bcm.
"We will meet the planned amount," the governor said. "Our production capacity is bigger than what we produce nowadays. We are able to produce up to 800 bcm."
At the same time, he continued, it is not clear whether gas production will grow next year.
Yamal is Russia’s main gas supplier: the region has more than 230 opened gas, gas condensate, oil and oil, gas condensate deposits.
