Russia should not follow Western countries path in its fuel policy, says Deputy PM

The 2021 Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum is being held at the West Siberian Innovation Center in Tyumen from September 14 to 16

TYUMEN, September 15. /TASS/. Russia should not follow the path of Western countries when it shapes its fuel policy, partially because it is much richer in terms of natural resources than other states, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said at a plenary session of the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum.

"It seems to me that Russia (in the development of its fuel policy - TASS) should go its own way, and not the way that Western partners impose on us," he said.

"Of course, Russia will take into account all trends, but I want to stress that we should not be deprived of our natural advantages (...) The world is so heterogeneous that the transition to green energy in Europe and North America will probably take place much earlier, but there remains another world where traditional products are in demand - for example, India, China, Asia, Africa. This is the sovereignty of our path: taking into account these global trends, we carefully walk this path without galloping," Borisov said.

The 2021 Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum is being held at the West Siberian Innovation Center in Tyumen from September 14 to 16. It includes more than 30 events — plenary sessions, technology days and days of the energy company supplier, round tables, business breakfasts, master classes, conferences, online platforms, etc.

The forum is sponsored by the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Tyumen region. TASS is the general information partner of the forum.
