EAEU economy to grow by 3.2% in 2021 — Russian Deputy PM

The economic downturn during the pandemic period turned out to be lower than in the European Union

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. The economy of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) can grow by 3.2% in 2021, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said on Wednesday when speaking in the Federation Council.

"The expected growth of the Union economy will be at the level of 3.2% in 2021," he said. The economic downturn during the pandemic period turned out to be lower than in the European Union, the official noted.

"Stress testing of economies of EAEU member-states in 2020 demonstrated their viability. The economic drop on the EAEU space was 2.9%. For comparison, GDP of the European Union declined by 6.3% and for the Eurozone — by 6.6%," he added.
