Russian expert expects governments to start paying basic income to citizens in future

"However, it will be too low to lead a full life," head of Russia’s Accounts Chamber Alexei Kurdin noted

ST. PETERSBURG, June 6. /TASS/. Governments will start paying universal basic income to their countries’ citizens in the future, head of Russia’s Accounts Chamber Alexei Kudrin said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"In the future, I think that guaranteed basic income, which is also called unconditional basic income, is what countries will come to eventually," he pointed out. "However, it will be too low to lead a full life," Kurdin added.

The 2021 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum organized by the Roscongress Foundation took place on June 2-5. TASS was the forum’s information partner and the official photo hosting agency.
