Balkan Stream gas pipeline contributes to energy stability of Serbia, says Vucic
The president also touched upon "the need to launch new energy and infrastructure projects"
BELGRADE, February 3. /TASS/. The Balkan Stream pipeline, an extension of the TurkStream gas pipeline, contributes to Serbia's energy stability, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
"President Vucic noted the importance of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline, which contributes to the energy stability of Serbia," the Serbian leader's administration said in a statement.
Vucic also touched upon "the need to launch new energy and infrastructure projects."
On January 1, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic launched the Balkan Stream gas pipeline in Serbia. The Serbian leader said that the price of gas from the new pipeline will be $155 per 1,000 cubic meters, while earlier Belgrade paid $240 per 1,000 cubic meters.
The gas pipeline segment across the territory of Serbia is an extension of one of two strings of the TurkStream pipeline, with Russian gas to be supplied to Turkey and then to Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. The segment length is 403 km and the design capacity is 13.9 bln cubic meters of gas per year.
