Mortgage debts of Russian households exceed 9 trillion rubles in 2020, says regulator
Russian banks extended a total of over 1.7 mln mortgage loans worth almost 4.3 trillion rubles in 2020
MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. The total bank portfolio of mortgage loans increased by 21.3% in 2020 reaching 9.086 trillion rubles ($119 bln) as of January 1, 2021, according to the files released by the Bank of Russia.
Overdue loans went down by 1.8% in December 2020 to 77.5 bln rubles ($1 bln), according to the Central Bank. Meanwhile, compared with December 2019 the amount of overdue mortgage loans rose by 6.8%. The share of overdue mortgage loans in the total bank portfolio amounted to 0.85% at the end of last year.
Russian banks extended a total of over 1.7 mln mortgage loans worth almost 4.3 trillion rubles ($56 bln) in 2020. The average weighted rate on mortgage loans provided in December slipped by 0.02 percentage points compared with November to 7.36%, the Bank of Russia said.
