Reuters says looking into request for comment on Rosneft story

On January 15, Reuters reported citing trading sources that Rosneft engaged in negotiations with several traders on joining the project in exchange for oil shipments, but the talks are obstructed by sanctions risks

LONDON, January 26. /TASS/. Reuters is preparing a commentary on Rosneft’s demand to remove its story regarding Vostok Oil, the agency spokeswoman told TASS Tuesday.

"We are looking into this for you and will come back to you as soon as possible," she said.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Reuters representative told TASS that they stand by their reporting, but later the agency explained that this comment was made in regards to another request.

On January 15, Reuters reported citing trading sources that Rosneft engaged in negotiations with several traders on joining the project in exchange for oil shipments, but the talks are obstructed by sanctions risks.

Rosneft demanded that the agency remove the publication and apologize for publishing "fake news."

"The company has involved a professional lawyer company for contacts with Reuters in this regard and reserves its right to file a lawsuit to protect its business reputation," Rosneft said in its statement, adding that Vostok Oil is not an arctic or a shelf project and therefore is not covered by sanctions.
