Volume of Hainan's express delivery services up by 35.23% in 2020

HAIKOU, January 20. /TASS/. The total volume of express delivery services on Hainan in 2020 amounted to 110 million units, which is 35.23% higher than in 2019, reported www.hinews.cn citing the provincial office of postal affairs on Wednesday.

During the same period, revenues of express delivery services in the province increased by 29.38% year on year, to 2.39 billion yuan ($ 368.8 million). At the same time, in 2020, courier delivery services served about 1.8 million people daily.

At the beginning of the year, the novel coronavirus pandemic had a negative impact on the development of the industry. Positive dynamics in the work of express delivery services has been outlined since February 2020. Since the second quarter, the news outlet writes, an average of 30% growth in work in this area has been recorded. To date, the average number of postal items via express delivery channels on Hainan amounts to about 300,000 units.

The report also indicates that e-commerce is becoming an important channel for marketing local agricultural products outside the island province.
