Russian Energy Ministry: gasoline prices growth in 2021 will be even and within inflation

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak ruled out growth of retail prices above inflation this year

MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. The dynamics of retail gasoline prices during 2021 will be even and will not go beyond inflation. The working headquarters under the Ministry of Energy and the Federal Antimonopoly Service monitors the situation with fuel in the country on a weekly basis, the Russian Energy Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry noted that the dynamics of wholesale and retail prices in Russia is different, the latter is evened out by a special tax mechanism - a damper. Meanwhile, the exchange prices for fuel are growing on the back of recovery in demand and consumption.

"The projected growth in retail fuel prices in 2021 will occur evenly throughout the year and should not exceed the level of expected inflation," the ministry said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak ruled out growth of retail prices above inflation this year.

According to Rosstat, the average consumer prices for gasoline in Russia as of January 11, 2021, increased by 21 kopecks since the previous registration and amounted to 46.12 rubles per liter.
