Volume of Russia’s Wealth Fund up $1.21 bln December, says Finance Ministry

As of January 1, 2021, the volume of the National Wealth Fund liquid part amounted to 7.5% of GDP, or 8.659 trillion rubles ($117.195 bln)

MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. The volume of the Russian National Wealth Fund in December 2020 increased by 89 bln rubles ($1.21 bln) and on January 1 reached 13.546 trillion rubles ($183.93 bln), the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday.

"As of January 1, 2021, the volume of the National Wealth Fund amounted to 13.546 trillion rubles," the statement said.

As of January 1, 2021, the volume of the National Wealth Fund liquid part amounted to 7.5% of GDP, or 8.659 trillion rubles ($117.195 bln). As of December 1, the volume of the National Wealth Fund amounted to 13.457 trillion rubles ($182.72 bln).

At the same time, $51.244 bln, 44.166 bln euro, 8.551 bln pounds sterling, and 11.628 bln rubles were deposited on separate accounts with the Bank of Russia, 579.698 bln rubles were placed on deposits with VEB.RF.

As much as $3 bln were invested in debt obligations of foreign states, 254.846 bln rubles and $4.113 bln were invested in securities of Russian issuers related to implementation of self-liquidating infrastructure projects, and 278.992 bln rubles were invested in preferred shares of credit institutions, 138.434 bln rubles were deposited with VTB and Gazprombank for funding of self-sustained infrastructure projects, and 3.072 trillion rubles were invested in ordinary shares of Sberbank, 59.517 bln rubles - in ordinary shares of Aeroflot.
