Kyrgyzstan praises China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, invites EDB to discuss
MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Bishkek invites the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) to pay attention to the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. This was announced on Friday during a meeting of the Eurasian Congress by the Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Sanzhar Mukanbetov.
"Kyrgyzstan is the southernmost point of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Therefore, I would suggest that the bank pay attention to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project," he said. According to the official, this project "fits perfectly" into the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative and the Russian initiative "Greater Eurasia".
"This railway would give an opportunity to reach the countries of the Middle East, including through Iran, etc. This is a unique project, and we could discuss it," the minister said. In his opinion, the EAEU member-states would also be able to export their products through this transport corridor.
