Launching PlayStation Now in Russia ‘challenging’ — Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO

According to Jim Ryan, "it’s very hard to offer services to some parts of the Russian PlayStation community, but not to others"

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. The launch of the PlayStation Now subscription service in Russia is complicated due to logistics issues, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan told TASS in an exclusive interview ahead of the PlayStation 5’s global launch.

"You know better than me that Russia is a huge, huge country. With these services, it’s very hard to launch, where do you draw the line to launch? Do you launch in Moscow only, or in Moscow and St.Pete’s? It’s very hard to offer services to some parts of the Russian PlayStation community, but not to others," Jim Ryan told TASS.

PlayStation Now is a subscription service allowing gamers to download or stream games without purchasing them for a monthly fee. "A cloud streaming service obviously does require the location of servers reasonably close to the gamer, it’s logistically very challenging," Jim Ryan added.
