Hainan holds online conference for representatives of British business

The conference was attended by representatives of about 200 British and Chinese companies

HAIKOU, September 28. /TASS/. The Hainan government together with the British Chamber of Commerce in China hosted an online conference for British companies, reported the Hainan Daily. 

The organizers of the event told British business representatives about Hainan's free trade port and the preferential treatment for foreign enterprises on the island. During the conference, industrial and innovation technology parks in Haikou, Sanya, Qionghai and other regions of Hainan also made presentations on opportunities for cooperation in finance, medicine and pharmaceuticals, attracting investments and other areas.

Bao Ling, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, noted that the Chinese authorities will create honest, fair, open and non-discriminatory working conditions for foreign and Chinese enterprises. He also noted that the creation of a free trade port on Hainan will create many opportunities for cooperation between Chinese and British businesses.

The conference was attended by representatives of about 200 British and Chinese companies. Earlier, the British-China Trade Association and the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the International Economic Development Department of Hainan's government.

The authorities presented a plan for the free trade port’s development on June, 1. In accordance with the plan, the Hainan province will be turned into a special customs zone. The country’s government intends in general to wrap up the creation of the free trade port on the island by 2025: by this time the island should acquire a system to ensure free trade and investments. 

By 2035, the free trade port and its model will become more solid. By this time, Hainan intends to ensure the freedom of trade and investments, trans-border movement of capital, people and shipping.
