Hainan braces for promotion of tours for youth following the pandemic

HAIKOU, September 27. /TASS/. China's Hainan drafted new tasks for the development of cross-border excursion tourism after the pandemic and began discussing relevant projects with the involvement of global resources by enhancing international cultural and humanitarian ties at the level of youth representatives, reported the Hainan Daily.

According to the newspaper, in order to promote cooperation in this area, the Chinese authorities held a special event in Haikou (the administrative center of the province): "Strengthening contacts for Hainan's development." A local government official explained that cross-border youth excursions will be a promising step for creating exciting and profitable kinds of tourism that will boost the development of Hainan's free trade port.

"In fact, we have launched a campaign has been in the region to promote international tourism following the pandemic," a reporter commented on the event. He stressed that the slogan of the event - "Together is better" - shows  "tolerance, China's desire to get closer to other states for the sake of mutual benefit."

The list of the main tasks for the development of Hainan international excursion tourism is the exchange of practical and theoretical experience, the activation of relations by holding regular face-to-face symposia. Leading experts, representatives of international government agencies and the general public can participate in them online, so far deprived of the opportunity to visit the island due to the spread of the coronavirus. According to Chinese experts, the recently held cultural youth event on international excursions on Hainan laid the foundation for a new, more flexible format to boost the tourism industry on a global scale.

Among the promising cooperation projects with other countries, proposed by representatives of the tourism sector during the said event, was the organization of excursion trips with visits to duty free shops, protected tropical forests, cultural and historical attractions in the areas inhabited by Hainan's distinctive national minorities. Amid the objective difficulties caused by the temporary reduction in the volume of air traffic in the world, the competent government authorities suggest that foreign partners make more active use of the available network resources in order to start working out new mutually beneficial projects right now.

Hainan's free trade zone

In April 2018, President Xi Jinping said that the Chinese authorities intend to actively involve Hainan in globalization and to draw foreign investors to the island province. By 2050, according to the authorities, the island should become a unique international cluster with an advanced economy, developed tourism, top-notch scientific, technical and financial potential, and modern medicine. The branches of the best universities and offices of the most powerful corporations in the world will be located on the Island of Hainan.

By 2025, the Chinese government intends to create an "international center for tourism and consumption" on Hainan. In order to do so, the "Eastern Hawaii" with their unique natural landscapes, thick rainforests and great climate will establish a developed network of hotels, which blend perfectly with white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline. The combination of an exotic subtropical nature and a modern eco-friendly infrastructure will boost tourist inflow to the island from the most distant parts of the world.
